Takeshi Hamada started his professional career at Cerezo Osaka in 2001 after finishing his time at Cerezo Osaka Junior Youth and Youth. He made his league debut the next year and in total, he played 188 league games from 2002 to 2009, including 53 games at Sagan Tosu where he played on loan in 2005 and 2006. In 2010, he moved to Tokushima Vortis on a permanent basis and there he has played 212 games.
It is safe to say that Hamada is one of the most notable graduates from Cerezo Osaka Academy in its early age. Until the likes of Kakitani, Yamaguchi, Ogihara, and Sugimoto came out, Cerezo’s youth team wasn’t particularly famous nor highly rated. Hamada, with high level of technique, gave a strong impression to supporters.
The most unforgettable goal during his time with Cerezo is this one. I still remember that I was so surprised that I could do nothing but do the fist pump when I watched this.
He, in a sense, made a huge contribution to Cerezo even after he left the club. When Kakitani left Cerezo to join Tokushima Vortis because of his bad behavior in 2009, Hamada took care of him very well, in such a way that he waked Kakitani up in the morning (the two were living in the same apartment) and brought him to the training ground. Thanks to his efforts, Kakitani became matured both as a footballer and human, and then came back to Cerezo and flourished.
Congraturations Hama-chan!
