Cerezo Osaka to face Tegevajaro Miyazaki in the Emperor's Cup second round

It has been confirmed that Cerezo Osaka will face JFL side Tegevajaro Miyazaki in the Emperor’s Cup second round after Miyazaki won 3-0 against Saga LIXIL FC in the first round of the competition today.

The game will take place on June 6 at Kincho Stadium. “They surely are a very strong opponent but we aim for a giant killing,” the official Twitter account of the club posted after the win.

Tegevajaro Miyazaki, currently managed by former Kashiwa Reysol, Conadole Sapporo, and Montedio Yamagata manager Nobuhiro Ishizaki, was firstly founded as Kadogawa Club (Kadogawa is a town located in the northern part of Miyazaki Prefecture) in 1965 and the name was changed to Andiamo Kadogawa 1965 in 2004, to MSU FC in 2007, and finally to Tegevajaro Miyazaki in 2015 in prospect of entering the J3 League. In 2017, Ishizaki, a manager with the most games in the J.League, was appointed as their manager and helped the team getting promoted to the JFL.

The team have some former J.League players including their captain Hideo Tanaka (Vissel Kobe, Kyoto Sanga), vice captain Kenichiro Meta (Avispa Fukuoka, Kyoto Sanga, Tokushima Vortis, Sagan Tosu), and Shoma Mizunaga (V-Varen Nagasaki, Zweigen Kanazawa, Giravanz Kitakyushu).
