Cerezo Osaka officially confirm that 19-year-old forward Pierce Waring joins from A-League side Melbourne Victory today.
Pierce Waring signed a professional contract with Melbourne Victory last year and made a debut in February this year. He already scored his first professional goal when he was picked up as a starter and played against Shanghai SIPG in an AFC Champions League game in April.
Waring was born to an Australian father and a Japanese father. Therefore, he can be registered as a domestic player and is thought to be fluent in Japanese.
“Very happy to be joining Cerezo Osaka. Looking forwards to the hard work ahead,” Waring posted on his Instagram account after the announcement was made.
He is expected to kick off his new career at the U-23 team as the shirt he has in the photo above has the logo of Nakabayashi instead of Singha Beer.
