Hwang Sun-hong is not on the list of potential managers

In an interview by South Korean website Footballist, Cerezo Osaka president Minoru Tamada said they didn’t consider former Cerezo player Hwang Sun-hong as a candidate for next manager now.

While most Japanese sports newspapers have reported that current boss Yoon Jong-hwan is set to leave the club at the end of the season, they haven’t mentioned any names who may succeed his position except for Hwang Sun-hong and Miguel Angel Lotina.

According to the interview which was conducted in Osaka on November 2, Cerezo considered Hwang as possible manager four years ago, but then he didn’t have a license needed to take charge of a J.League team. Although they know he has it now, his name is not currently on the list, Tamada said.

“Cerezo will appoint a manager regardless of the nationality. There is a possibility that South Korean person may be appointed,” he added.
